Frequently Asked Questions

All your questions about the schtickbox answered.

SchtickBox is a revolutionary privacy app that locally encrypts your photos and allows you to securely share them using an encryption key.

Local encryption means that we don’t keep your stuff in the cloud, our app works by encrypting whatever you store in our app and giving you an encryption key to keep or share to be able to see the photo or file. Without that encryption key, your stuff isn’t accessible to anyone.

Share function; shared photos and files are shared via cloud, which you can access by inputting the encryption key from the person who wants to share the file. These are encrypted so we do not have access to them, and should you want to ‘unshare’ you can remove access from anyone who you’ve given the encryption key to.

How to remove someone’s access to the shared file that you own:

  1. Go to the file that you wish to remove access from
  2. Click the three vertical dots and select ‘view details’
  3. You will see the list of users that have access to the file, and next to the name of the person you wish to remove, click the red trash can icon.
  4. Confirm.
  5. The person you’re sharing the file with must also have a SchtickBox account to be able to access the file.

Nothing, we don’t want your stuff. But really, our mission is to give you more control and security when it comes to your private files, we don’t sell your information. And we don’t use your information unless we have to.

This question has two answers;

Shared content; Files that you’ve shared can be restored by logging into your account on another device because it’s in our servers.

Unshared content; Files that you have not shared cannot be restored because they only exist on the original device.

The ‘auto delete’ function isn’t automatic and you can decide whether the files you upload to SchtickBox remain in your camera roll or not.

While we can’t see your stuff, we do not condone illegal content and we do cooperate with law enforcement. See our ‘contact’ page for more information
